I’m forcing myself to write this blog entry because I want to keep gilbyonline alive. Honestly, I’m not really sure why…maybe I hope that someday, I’ll create some interesting content and post it. Maybe I hope that a company named “gilby” will eventually offer to buy my domain for thousands of dollars. Or, maybe I think that I’ll get back into blogging, even though I, like so many others, have become disenchanted with its appeal.
Actually, I think I do know why I’m writing this blog: I’m writing because I want to continue recording thoughts and events on the timeline of my life. Then, when I retire, Bethany and I will have our computer/internet/phone/memory implants read us the timeline directly to our thoughts in a soothing, non-robotic British accent. It’ll also stream every uploaded picture directly to our visual cortexes. That’s why I posted the picture above: I think I’ll enjoy seeing it when I’m old. It will remind me of that fact that I loved to fly when I was young, impress me with my wife’s eye for a good picture, and fill me with wonder as I ponder the splendor of creation and the magnificence of its Creator.
2008 was a good year. I was (and am continually) blessed by God, my lovely wife, my wonderful family, my friends, my job, music, quiet evenings at home, inner peace, and the ability to experience life with five senses. I hope to cherish these blessings as long as I live, and yet I also look forward to growth prompted by inevitable hardship.
In closing, I have two profoundly important things to say: 1) I’m super tired, and 2) Please visit http://www.MailMeTwoBits.com!
